Shots Fired as LR Video Game Store Targeted Again

Gunfire erupted at a video game store in broad daylight on Monday afternoon at the Game Exchange on South University.
LITTLE ROCK, AR -- Gunfire erupted at a video game store in broad daylight on Monday. It happened at the Game Exchange on South University.

"I'm scared for the employees here," said a shopper who identified herself as Melissa.

It was 12:30 Monday afternoon when employees say a masked gunman wearing a red hoodie burst in and started shooting.

"I know that there's a lot of people that come here that have children with them," Melissa said. "That's serious."

Employees showed us at least four bullet holes scaring walls of the store.  They say the robber made off with about $800 in game systems and $100 in cash.

"It just shows to prove that anything can happen at any moment," said shopper Jarrod Felkins.

But at this particular Game Exchange, crime seems to happen a lot. Last July, another alleged robber fired shots at at an employee who followed the suspect to his car.

The store was also the scene of an incident in March of last year where shots were fired and ended up shattering the window of a building at UALR.

"Kinda makes everyone upset to see a store go down like that," Felkins said.

According to FOX16 archives show the store was targeted by burglars in 2011 and 2009.

Monday shoppers were just glad no one was hurt in the latest case.

"There's other businesses around here," Melissa said.  "If it went through the wall and hit another employee from one of the other businesses, that's very dangerous."

The store does have surveillance cameras, but Little Rock police aren't releasing details on what, if anything, they captured.
