HOT SPRINGS, AR - The fire-damaged Majestic Hotel in Hot Springs has officially been torn down and the site stabilized.
The spa city landmark dated back to the 1880s.
The Hot Springs Fire Department says the huge fire in the oldest part of the historic hotel last week was a real stamina test for every department working the scene.
Chief Ed Davis says crews will not go through the rubble because any signs there may have been of what could have started the fire will likely have been destroyed, but they will conduct an investigation.
"Everybody has their own theory on it. From my standpoint there just does not seem to be any real motivation from anyone to have set the fire to gain financially," Chief Davis says.
A Hot Springs company has been contracted by the owners of the property to try and salvage or recycle the bricks. They will soon start selling them as souvenirs.
