Real Summer Heat

The kids are back to school, but the Summer heat is just getting started.
A hot and dry Summer pattern developing through the rest of this week and straight through the weekend. There have been far fewer 90 and 95 degree days this Summer than in past years, but we are about to catch up a little. Highs over the next few days will consistently hit the mid to upper 90s. Humidity will push heat index values well above 100 at times. High pressure aloft keeps rain chances very low into the weekend with even hotter temperatures. The strong high will remain anchored over the area through early next week with little change in the heat. The high will begin to break down by the middle of next week, bringing back some threat of rain along with a bit less heat.
