Superintendent Releases Statement Regarding Death of Long-time LRSD Employee

The woman found dead in her home Tuesday morning worked for the LRSD for nearly 30 years. The Superintendent expresses the district's sadness and shock in this statement.


LITTLE ROCK, AR -- The death of long-time LRSD faculty member, Debbie Bush, has left students and faculty in shock and disbelief.

Bush was found dead in her Little Rock home this morning by a friend/coworker.

According to police, this is still being investigated as a homicide.


Little Rock School District Superintendent, Dexter Suggs, released the following statement tonight:


"We were shocked and saddened to learn of the tragic death of Little Rock School District employee Debbie Bush. 

Ms. Bush was a tenured, beloved member of the LRSD family who worked in the Child Nutrition Department for nearly 30 years and was on staff at Wilson Elementary. 

We join the Wilson Elementary school student body and staff in mourning her loss.  We also extend our sincere condolences to the Bush family.

Grief counselors will be made available to the students and staff.

While Ms. Bush's death remains under investigation by police, out of respect for her family's privacy and in deference to the police investigation, we will not make any further comments at this time.

We appreciate the media's understanding and cooperation."
