Storm Leaves Pathway Of Debris In Jonesboro

Residents are picking up the pieces after a storm damaged their homes.
JONESBORO, AR- Strong storms in northeast Arkansas left a pathway of debris through neighborhoods in Jonesboro on Thursday. Just about anywhere you look, toppled trees brought down power lines along with it, also damaging homes in the area.

Crews immediately got involved to help homeowners fix roof tops and cut downed trees. Two had fell onto Donna Farabi's home.

"Complete chaos, I mean what can you say?" says Donna Farabi, Jonesboro resident.

Farabi was sleeping when the storm hit Thursday.

"I saw them falling and then I just, it made me cry because I didn't know what to do, I didn't know where to go," says Farabi.

Farabi is thankful to make it out safe. But just down the road, others were not so lucky. 74-year-old Tommy Sanford was killed after a tree fell on his home.

"I saw the tree fall," says Felix Cruz, neighbor. "I hear voices, oh my god, oh my god, oh my god."

When Felix Cruz heard screams coming from Sanford's home he called 911.

"Everybody was crying and everything. I wanted to cry too so I left," says Cruz.

Sanford's son says his dad was a family man, a city marshal in Caraway for about 10 years, who will be missed by many.
