NLR Rocket Slide To Be Replaced; City Seeking Restitution

North Little Rock will expect to replace the Rocket Slide at Burns Park in the coming months.
NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR- The iconic Rocket Slide, damaged by arson, is set to be replaced in Burns Park. North Little Rock city officials say their insurance company is cutting the city a check of $100,000 dollars for the slide, calling it a total damage.

Police arrested two teenagers for allegedly setting the slide on fire in late January. They're accused of pouring accelerants down both slides and igniting them with matches.

A group of people came together to raise money for the insurance deductible, aiming to collect $5,000 dollars, but they surpassed their goal and raised $6,500.

Council has to approve the insurance check for a new Rocket Slide at its next meeting on the 24th. Once approved the slide will be ordered and should be installed by this summer.

Meanwhile, the city says it plans to pursue restitution against the two teenagers.
