Arkansans Gear Up For Super Bowl And Winter Weather Weekend

Sleet and snow is headed to the Natural State. A look at what Arkansans are doing in preparation
LITTLE ROCK, AR -- Early in the week, the main concern for the Super Bowl was winter weather around Metlife Stadium. Those concerns are out the window, but now the sleet and snow looks like it's heading to Arkansas instead.

It's an eventful weekend grocery stores like Food Giant in Little Rock geared up for. Not only were shoppers getting ready for Super Bowl Sunday, but they were surprised to learn they'd have to add some additional items on their shopping list Friday.

Bread, eggs, along with all the Super Bowl snacks, were fully stocked at Food Giant. The manager tells us it has no plans of running short. While the store already sees four to five deliveries each week, it set up extra deliveries for Sunday to make sure there's more than enough, and no one leaves empty handed.

"They're pretty good about gearing up for the holidays, especially Super Bowl because it's the biggest chip dip holiday," said Ron Willett, Food Giant Manager.

Transportation crews are also gearing up for the winter weather. The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department says crews spent the day making salt brine. Over 700 dump trucks are ready to use it on major highways and bridges, before the first of several winter weather activities hit the Natural State.

The department, along with Entergy Officials, say they're going to be monitoring the weather conditions and will have crews on stand by.
