Three Die in Wet Road Accidents Across Arkansas

Deadly wrecks reported Thursday in Pope, Union and Garland counties.
LITTLE ROCK, AR - Three drivers have died in separate one-vehicle accidents on wet roads across Arkansas.

The Arkansas State Police fatal crash summaries web page reports the accidents all happened on Thursday.

Two of them happened around 9:45 a.m., one in Pope County and the other in Garland County.

The Pope County wreck was reported along Interstate 40 east of Atkins.

That's where Joe Barber, Sr., 72, of Jonesville, Louisiana died after his 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycle left the interstate, drifted over into the median and struck a guardrail. Weather conditions at the time noted light rain.

In the Garland County accident, a Hot Springs woman was killed when the 1997 Nissan Pathfinder she was driving west went off Glazypeau Rd. in a curve. The driver lost control, left the road and the vehicle overturned. 

The accident report identifies her as Selina K. Tidwell, 33. Thomas E. Locke, 29, of Hot Springs, a passenger in the SUV was also injured. There's no further word on his condition.

In the third deadly crash yesterday, Marcus D. Thompson, 42, of Huttig (Union County) died when his 1991 Chevy S-10 pickup truck headed north on State Hwy. 129 South left the road in a curve and flipped over. It happened just after 11:30 p.m. and the report notes it was raining at the time.
