Minneapolis, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - Minnesota Timberwolves backup forward Dante Cunningham was arrested early Thursday morning on allegations of domestic assault.
Cunningham was booked into Hennepin County Jail at 6:14 a.m. (CT). He is being held without bail pending charges, which have yet to be filed.
The Timberwolves defeated the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night and traveled to Florida Thursday afternoon for a two-game road trip. They'll play in Miami against the Heat on Friday night and Saturday night in Orlando against the Magic. Cunningham did not accompany the team.
Minnesota issued the following statement regarding Cunningham:
"We are aware of the matter involving Dante Cunningham and are in the process of gathering more information. Dante will not be traveling with the team to Miami this afternoon. The Minnesota Timberwolves organization takes the matter very seriously and does not condone the type of behavior that is associated with this situation. However, we need to let the legal process run its course, and will have further comment at the appropriate time."
The woman involved in the incident did not require medical treatment, police said.
The 26-year-old Cunningham is averaging 6.0 points and 4.0 rebounds in 74 games this season.
