Train Derailment Leaves Big Mess in Garfield

GARFIELD, AR - An afternoon train derailment in the town of Garfield leaves several cars on their sides and a big mess that could take days to clean up.

The train was going northbound on the Arkansas Missouri railroad. As you can see about a dozen cars went off the tracks.

No one was hurt and the cars were carrying sand so there was no need for haz mat crews.

But officials do say it will take a bit to clean up.

"Two to three days we hope to have it cleaned up and have it run back through here," says Ron Sparks.

The cause of the crash has yet to be determined.
