Uncertainty on Funding Delays AHTD Projects

The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department says nearly a dozen projects won't start until next month.
LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Highway Department says it won't start nearly a dozen projects next month because of uncertainty from the feds.

One of those projects includes the Roosevelt Rd. Bridge in front of the Arkansas State Fairgrounds.

The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) says it doesn't want to start a project because it's not sure if money from DC will come through to help pay for it.

"We've all put a lot of time and effort into this project and it's a shame we're going to have to wait a little bit longer to see that project come about now," says Randy Ort.

Senator John Boozman says a new highway bill is a top priority and that he remains confident Congress will find a solution to "make sure we have a funding source to maintain our nation's roadways."
