Update: Road Conditions Improving Across Area

Law enforcement continues to ask drivers to stay off the roads Saturday after 3 inches of snowfall Friday led to some travel nightmares across the area.
LITTLE ROCK, AR - Law enforcement continues to ask drivers to stay off the roads Saturday but conditions are slowly improving following Friday's travel fiasco.

Little Rock road crews report making progress around town and Fox16 crews say things are slowly starting to clear up.

There continues to be slow traffic along I-30 near Arkadelphia in both directions and some gridlock on I-40 around Maumelle headed towards Mayflower.

On Friday, law enforcement responded to well over 150 accident and stranded motorist calls.  As of Saturday morning, the state reported snow and ice remaining on most major Central Arkansas highways.

Officials continue to urge drivers to stay off the roads until melting occurs later this afternoon.

"Any vehicle that was abandoned on the roadway and considered a traffic hazard will most likely be towed to open up the roadways for city crews to plow and treat the streets," wrote LRPD Lt. Sidney Allen in a statement Saturday morning. "There are no street closures in the city, however we are asking that citizens stay off of the roadways."
