Witnesses Describe Scene Inside Walmart Shooting

CONWAY, AR- Myron Terrell, 29, is in custody at the Faulkner County Jail arrested around 2 AM Sunday.

Police said Terrell had a criminal history but nothing to indicate he was capable of this violence.

The victim is said to be in critical but stable condition.

We spoke to three friends inside the store when the shooting happened who described the chaotic scene.

"Sounded like a balloon popping," said Connor Ryan.

"I heard heard the popping," said Megan Effinger. "Some kid is popping balloons."

"And then all the sudden just bam, bam, bam, bam," said Effinger. "And I immediately knew it was gun shots."

"That was my first instinct to say let's get done," said their friend Amos Gerber.

"I run for UCA Cross Country," said Ryan. "So, I just took off."

"I heard a lot of screaming," said Effinger.

"If we're going to go. We've got to go now," Gerber said he told Effinger.

"I was like 'Oh, this is bad," she said.

"Man," said Ryan. "I don't want to die here in Walmart," he said. "I was afraid the guy was going to be shooting people as they ran out of Walmart."

"It wasn't worth sticking around and finding out," said Effinger.

"There is no evidence or anything that leads us to believe these two knew each other the suspect and the victim," said information officer for Conway police La Tresha Woodruff.

"The victim, a female, was in critical but stable condition," she said. "We were able to get his picture out quickly and they were able to arrest him about 2 AM."

"Myron Terrel is the suspect," Woodruff said. "He's 29 years old was an employee of Walmart."

"The weirdest thing," said Effinger, "Was we were going to check out of the normal lane, but went to the self check out and had we gone to the normal one we would have been right in line with him."

"I'm so thankful I was able to get out and my friends are okay," said Ryan.
