Democratic Party of Ark. Files Ethics Complaint Against Rep. Cotton

Cotton's camp issued response Tuesday.
LITTLE ROCK, AR -- The Democratic Party of Arkansas (DPA) has filed a compliant against Rep. Tom Cotton alleging that the congressman was campaigning on a radio show while on official government property.

At a Tuesday news conference, DPA announced the request for an ethics investigation against Cotton, who they say solicited contributions for his campaign while conducting a radio interview from the U.S. Capitol building on Sept. 30.

The complaint reads in part:

"There is also substantial reason to believe that Congressman Cotton, during this same interview, violated federal criminal law and House rules by soliciting contributions for his campaign from a federal building."

Cotton's campaign manager issued the following statement in response:

“The facts have already proven this to be a false accusation, and we’re confident this partisan publicity stunt complaint will be dismissed.

"This is a good example of what’s wrong with Washington. Senator Mark Pryor knows he loses to Tom Cotton on any campaign on the issues, because Senator Pryor has voted with President Obama 95 percent of the time. That’s why he’s doing what creatures of Washington do - manufacturing bogus claims and launching false personal attacks he knows aren’t true. After a decade in Washington, Senator Pryor simply doesn’t demonstrate Arkansas values anymore.”
