SALESVILLE, AR -- A 24-year-old woman is facing felony charges after deputies say she stole a woman's engagement ring and forged one of her checks.

According to the Baxter County Sheriff's Office (BCSO), 24-year-old Nicole Amber Sienko, of Salesville, was arrested Monday after admitting to committing two burglaries and forging a check to herself.

BCSO says they responded to a burglary call on Nov. 4, where the resident told them her engagement ring and TomTom GPS unit were missing from her home. She told deputies she suspected Sienko and another person might be responsible for the theft.

Just two weeks later, on Nov. 18, the same victim reported having a check stolen, forged and cashed for $180 on her personal bank account. The check was written to Sienko and cashed at a Mountain Home Bank, where the drive-thru teller recorded the vehicle's license plate number, according to BCSO.

When sheriff's investigators tried to locate Sienko at an address in Salesville, they found a car with the same license plate number that was recorded by the bank teller, but could not find the suspect. The registered owner of the vehicle told investigators that he took Sienko and 22-year-old Jonathan Porter, of Norfork, to the bank that day to cash the check. The vehicle's owner then reported having approximately $60 worth of fishing equipment stolen from his home, BCSO says.

During interviews with deputies on Monday, Sienko admitted to stealing and pawning the engagement ring, as well as stealing, forging and cashing the victim's check. BCSO says Porter also admitted that  both of them stole the fishing equipment from the man who drove them to the bank to cash the forged check.

Sienko has been charged with felony residential burglary, felony second-degree forgery and two misdemeanor counts of theft of property. She was taken to the Baxter County Jail, where she remains on $20,000 bond.

Porter was also taken to the jail, where he was charged with felony residential burglary and two misdemeanor theft of property counts.

He is being held in lieu of $10,000 bond.
