Fire Engulfs Apartment Building in Clarksville, Child Dies

The blaze broke out at the West Sevier Street Apartments around noon on Wednesday.
CLARKSVILLE, AR - The Clarksville Fire Department is investigating a deadly blaze that broke out in a building of 8 townhouses on Wednesday and claimed the life of a child.

Crews were called to the scene at the West Sevier Street Apartments on Wednesday around noon.

Clarksville Police Chief Greg Donaldson says three of the townhouses were destroyed.

He says the victim was an 18-month-old girl who was inside the unit where the fire started.

The cause is still not known and the Arkansas State Police is assisting with the investigation..
