Gov. Beebe Declares Statewide Emergency for Winter Weather

The governor has also released $100,000 from the disaster fund to assist with initial response to the storm.
LITTLE ROCK, AR -- As winter weather has already hit parts of the Natural State and warnings are ahead for much of Central Arkansas, Governor Mike Beebe has declared a statewide disaster.

Beebe's office says along with additional proclamations, this declaration will ease restrictions on utility crews, fuel haulers and propane deliveries. The governor has also released $100,000 from the disaster fund to assist with initial response to the storm.

With freezing rain expected throughout the workday tomorrow in Central Arkansas, Beebe has also declared that only essential personnel will report to work at State offices in the Little Rock Metropolitan Area on Friday. Agency directors and area supervisors will determine who those employees are.

Also, all of the events previously listed on Governor Beebe's schedule for Friday, Saturday and Sunday have been postponed.
