Group Sends Letter Calling for Removal of Ark. Baptist CFO

Group claims to be "Concerned Faculty Members," but there is some confusion over who actually wrote the letter.
LITTLE ROCK, AR -- A letter sent to the media from a group claiming to be "Concerned Faculty Members" demands the removal of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Arkansas Baptist College (ABC).

According to the letter, the goal is to save the college and student body, compensate all faculty, staff and employees, and to dismiss CFO Billy Owens.

Staff and employees have not received a paycheck since Oct. 31 after the school's computer system was hacked into, but there is some confusion over who actually wrote the letter.

LaCresha Newton, Chief of Staff at ABC, spoke on behalf of the senate faculty members.

"And she said the letter is false. She nor any of the faculty senate sent out a letter out to the media," Newton says.

Newton says no one has been paid because the college has not received federal funds since July.

The college has been depending on loans and other funding sources to stay afloat.

A source close to the college says ABC is in debt of nearly $4.5 million.
