Fire Kills One Person Saturday Morning in Jacksonville

A 70-year-old woman has died, fire crews believe the fire started in her bedroom.

JACKSONVILLE, AR -- A woman is dead after a fire Saturday morning in Jacksonville.

The identity of the woman has not been released.

The fire started shortly after 6:00 a.m. this morning at a home in the 400 block of South Oak.

Two other people were at home at the time, they were able to get out of the home.

A spokesman with the Jacksonville Fire Department says about half of the home burned.

The fire is believed to have started in the bedroom of the victim.

The investigation is continuing.

The Red Cross is on the scene to assist the people who have been displaced by the fire.
