Woman Dies While in Custody in Pope County

52-year-old Danetta Star is believed to have died of natural causes, she was being held after being charged with second degree murder.

RUSSELLVILLE, AR -- A woman has died while in the custody of the Pope County Sheriff's Office.

52-year-old Danetta Star is believed to have died of natural causes, according to an initial investigation.

She was being held on a $300,000 bond for 2nd degree Murder.

Around 10:30 p.m. Friday, officers at the Pope County Detention Center found Star unresponsive and contacted emergency workers.

She was taken to a Russellville hospital, and later pronounced dead by Pope County Coroner Leonard Krout.

The body will be turned over to the Arkansas Medical Examiner.
