Kris Allen Ushers in 2014 in NLR

A new star-studded event welcomed in the new year.
North Little Rock, AR - As 2013 came to a close, the new year was ushered in on the banks of the Arkansas River.  North Little Rock played host to a brand new event.  Natural State of Music hosted the 'Big Ball Dropping Celebration'.  The company claims it is the only ball dropping, New Year's Eve event in Arkansas.

Several Natural State native musicians took the stage for the more than 5 hours of music, including 'American Idol' winner Kris Allen, and top 8 finalist on 'The Voice' Cody Belew.

Allen said, "Its New Year's everyone's having a lot of fun, and I think this is the first time that Little Rock has had anything like this, so I'm glad to be a part of it."

Belew added, "I've obviously cut my teeth in Arkansas playing things on New Year's Eve, but this is really the first event of its kind, and I'm very, very proud to be a part of that."

Both guys were pumped the event had a ball drop.

Belew said, "Look past the crain, and you feel like you are in Times Square, the southern edition."

Allen added, "There's a big ball and they're going to drop it, they are trying to make their own, little Times Square thing here, its very cool."

As for what 2014 holds, both guys are hoping for new music.

Allen said, "I'm really excited about 2014, I will put out a new record at the beginning of the year."

Belew said, "Hopefully it holds more music.  This is what I was bred to do, my bones were built to be a performer."
