AUSTIN, TX – Carolee Dillard tied a career high with 10 points, but the UALR women’s basketball team fell by a 60-26 score at Texas at the Frank Erwin Center on Wednesday night.

The Longhorns (6-2) scored 30 points in the first half and held UALR (3-3) to just 10, and that 20-point deficit only ballooned over the final 20 minutes as Texas wound up winning by 34 thanks to a strong run early in the second half.

In a nearly nine-minute stretch that spanned the end of the first half and the start of the second, the Longhorns went on a 14-0 run. Senior Taylor Ford finally broke that run for the Trojans with a 3-pointer from the right side, scoring the team’s first basket of the second half more than seven minutes into it.

Dillard had eight of her 10 points in the second half and added a block to her season total. Ford had eight points on the night, the second-highest total for UALR. She also had three rebounds and a steal.

Senior Hannah Fohne got her first start of the season and had two blocks, inching her closer to the school record. She now needs just 11 blocks to break the UALR all-time mark. Junior Kiera Clark made two baskets, reaching 200 total in her Trojan career.

Taylor Gault was held scoreless for the first time in her career when playing more than five minutes in a game. She was 0 of 9 from the field in 17 minutes. Shanity James was also held scoreless in 22 minutes, not putting up points for just the second time in her career. The Trojans’ final score was its lowest in the Joe Foley era.

Texas led the game from start to finish, taking a 6-0 lead before the Trojans’ first basket on an and-one play by Ford . Dillard had UALR’s next field goal nearly six minutes later, but by that point Texas had turned its three-point lead into a 15-5 advantage.

The teams each doubled that point total in the final 10 minutes of the half with all five of the Trojans’ points coming on a 5-0 run thanks to baskets by Clark and Fohne and a Keanna Keys free throw. Texas owed its 30-15 halftime lead partially to UALR shooting 2 of 18 from the field and turning the ball over 12 times.

The Trojans conclude their three-game road trip at Tulsa on Saturday. The game is set to tip off at 1 p.m.
