Outlet Stores Coming to Central Arkansas

The Outlets at Little Rock are moving in next door to Bass Pro Shops.
LITTLE ROCK, AR -- This week, Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World in Little Rock opened its doors.  Thousand have flocked to the outdoor super center over the last couple of days, but this is not the end of the shopping development along that stretch of Interstate 40 in central Arkansas.

"It's only a small part of what we are going to do out here," said Tommy Hodges, developer and president of the Hodges Group. "They plan to start construction in the spring, and it will take 12 to 15 months to build, shopping will start in the summer of 2015."

The new outlet mall will cover about 100 acres with nearly 80 retail stores.

"We are talking to retailers that have never thought of Little Rock before and the reason is they hear about the Bass Pro they hear about the outlet mall, and that's the kind of thing that generates interest," Hodges added.

Hodges would not reveal what stores have signed on to join the Outlets at Little Rock, but he offered a tease to the type of stores to expect, "High end fashion shops."

Hodges believes the new development could bring millions of dollars in tax revenue to Pulaski County and about 1,400 jobs.
