PINE BLUFF, AR -- Pine Bluff police are investigating a shooting early Sunday morning.
34-year-old Lloyd Franklin was shot in the face.
According to County Judge Dutch King, Franklin is a member of the Jefferson County Quorum Court.
"I talked to his mother and daddy," King said. "They both said he's doing good. He's going to be okay. He's probably going to have to have a little surgery coming up sometime this week."
The incident involving Franklin happened shortly before 2:00 a.m. near the 200 block of 4th Street.
Investigators believe a fight started inside a night club near that address.
The fight spilled out into the street, and witnesses told investigators they heard shots being fired.
Witnesses say the gunfire may have come from a white car last seen at the corner of 3rd and Chestnut.
Lloyd Franklin was injured and taken to a Pine Bluff hospital.
He has since been taken to UAMS in Little Rock hospital for further treatment.
"Everyone on the quorum court and people of Pine Bluff and Jefferson County... I know he's in everyone's prayers for a speedy and full recovery," King said.
