LITTLE ROCK, AR -- A day after Little Rock police found Austin Burks dead in the street on Christmas Eve, a group of Little Rock pastors gathered at 15th and Abigail to pray for peace.

Police say the shooting happened on Adams Street just after 3:30 p.m.

Witnesses heard multiple gunshots and then found the father of two with a gunshot wound to the head.

"I just don't want to see this continue to happen," said planner Rev. Marcus Wiggins.

Jammie Ingram lost her brother, Verico, to gun violence Dec. 23 .

Police say they found him slumped over the wheel of the car.

"I don't think he deserve to die the way that he died," Ingram said.

Organizers say they planned the service before the Christmas Eve murder, but when the incident happened, planners knew the service would be needed even more.

Rev. Darryl White says he hopes other city stakeholders would join the call to end crime.

"The people of this community should not be afraid to come out of their house. We are praying that God will bless them," White said. "We are praying that God will keep them. We are praying for the commandment of God that you shalt not kill."
