Razorbacks Add Two Junior College Recruits

The Arkansas football team has added two junior college signees, head coach Bret Bielema announced Thursday.

FAYETTEVILLE, AR – The Arkansas football team has added two junior college signees, head coach Bret Bielema announced Thursday.

The Razorbacks signed wide receiver Cody Hollister and offensive lineman Sebastian Tretola. Both signees are expected to enroll in January and go through spring practice.

“We are very excited to continue the growth of our Razorback family,” Coach Bielema said. “As student-athletes, they will be able to maximize our out-of-season program in addition to having the ability to take part in spring practice. Both of them were full qualifiers out of high school, which was very important to our staff moving forward.”

In his senior season at Mountain View High School in Bend, Ore., Hollister helped lead the Cougars to the 5A state championship and was named first-team all-state. He caught 12 passes for 146 yards in the state championship game, giving the city of Bend its first state title since 1940, and finished the 2011 season with 64 receptions for 1,038 yards and 15 touchdowns. As a junior, he caught 72 passes for 1,270 yards and 15 touchdowns while helping Mountain View advance to the semifinal round of the state playoffs. Following his prep career, Hollister redshirted as a freshman at Nevada before transferring to Arizona Western College. This year, Hollister was a first-team all-conference selection after leading the team with 69 receptions for 934 yards and five touchdowns. Hollister was coached by Tom Monnick at Arizona Western and Steve Turner at Mountain View. Hollister also received scholarship offers from Wyoming and Troy. He is the son of Evan Hollister and Jennifer Connolly and was involved with FCA and Athletes for Orphans while in high school in addition to playing basketball and baseball.

Tretola comes to Arkansas from Iowa Western Community College after beginning his collegiate career at Nevada. The San Bernardino, Calif., native is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 1 junior college recruit in Iowa, the No. 8 junior college offensive tackle in the country and the 29th-best junior college prospect in the nation. He also is ranked 63rd in the Rivals junior college top 100. He earned first-team all-conference honors this season after helping the Reivers win the Midwest Football Conference championship and a No. 2 final ranking after defeating Butler in the Graphic Edge Bowl. He redshirted as a true freshman at Nevada and saw action in 10 games with four starts in 2012, helping the Wolf Pack to the New Mexico Bowl. He helped lead Cajon High School to a league championship as a junior and was twice a first-team all-league selection, adding first-team all-county honors as a senior. Tretola was coached at Iowa Western by Scott Strohmeier and at Cajon by Kim Battin. Tretola selected Arkansas after receiving multiple scholarship offers, including Oklahoma, Texas Tech, TCU and South Florida.
