Santa Stops by NLR Early

A North Little Rock neighborhood gets an early visit from Ole Saint Nick
North Little Rock - On Christmas Eve, a Park Hill neighborhood in North Little Rock got an early visit from Santa Claus.  For more than a decade Stephen Dillon has been dressing up as St. Nick to deliver the mail on his postal route.

7 year old Jett Johnston was waiting to see Santa Claus as he went door to door on Tuesday afternoon, "He just came to deliver mail, because he's the real mailman, and he's Santa too."

"He delivers presents and mail."

Jett's little brother, Jesse, was equally as excited, "I saw him right there."

For years Stephen has donned the suit of red and white.

He said, "It's just something different, it just breaks up the monotony of the everyday, just the same ole, same ole.  It just brings a lot of cheer and joy to people's home and life."

The Postal Service said, Stephen is one of the few, if not the only Postal Service Santa in the Natural State.

And for people on his route, this giving gesture goes a long way.

Ranid Harvill said, "He's perfect for it, he really is."

"He is wonderful, and I know that everyone in the neighborhood loved to see Santa come around and bring our gifts."

Stephen said some postal workers will be delivering mail on Christmas day, focusing on those packages that look like they need to be under a tree for the holidays.
