SALINE COUNTY, AR - A local woman is hospitalized with severe burns after deputies say her son set her on fire.
It happened Tuesday morning just before noon at a home on South Alexander Road.
Kim Warren, 51, told deputies after she had argued with Rodney Clay Warren, 28, he threw gasoline on her and set her clothing on fire. The woman's former husband (Rodney Claud Warren, 69) and the suspect's father also witnessed the incident. He told deputies his son tackled the woman to the ground after pouring the flammable liquid on her. He said his son then took a lighter from his pocket and lit her clothing on fire. Warren then walked away from the house as the flames were being put out, his father said.
The woman suffered burns to the backside of her lower body before the flames were put out. She is being treated in the burn unit at Arkansas Children's Hospital after first being taken to Saline Memorial Hospital.
That's where deputies found her screaming in pain shortly after the incident happened.
Warren was not arrested until the next day at a home in Alexander. He is charged with attempted murder, terroristic threatening, felon in possession of a firearm, domestic battery, and aggravated assault. His jail record also notes he had absconded from parole.
