Storm System Dumps Heavy Rain, Freezing Rain over Arkansas

Areas surrounding the Little Rock metro area reporting the most rainfall as of late Saturday morning.
LITTLE ROCK, AR - Heavy rain was falling late Saturday morning in central Arkansas while freezing precipitation was reported in the state's northwest section.

A flash flood warning was in effect for a large portion of the state's mid-section and stretching to its northeast corner.

The City of Little Rock issued the following details on its storm response:

Police, Fire and Emergency response teams are prepared across the City. Public Works Operations crews are on call and working events related to the storm. 

Currently there are no reports of downed trees. 

The following streets or areas have been closed and barricaded due to flooding:
  • Alexander Road east of Vimy Ridge Road 
  • The gates at Boyle Park and Kanis Park

Public Works has crews checking reports of street flooding at:
  • 1216 Pine Valley
  • Chenal Parkway at Pride Valley
  • Roosevelt Road at Cross Street.  

The AR Highway and Transportation Department has been alerted to reports of flooding at Laharpe Street (Highway 10) east of State Street.
