Stretching Your Dollar: Eat Healthy on a Budget

Certified Nutritionist David Rath shares advice on how to put better foods on the table without spending a lot of money.
LITTLE ROCK, AR - Many people dread going to the grocery store.

For some, it's because they fear what the total will be when they go through the checkout.

Others worry about being able to pass up a long list of tempting goodies as they roll their cart around the store.

In today's Stretching Your Dollar, Certified Nutritionist David Rath shows us how to eat healthy on a budget.

David's tips:

1)     Plan your weekly meals and make a shopping list to avoid buying unnecessary items.

2)     Buy produce fresh in-season, canned or frozen.

3)     Use coupons, buy store brands and look for specials.

4)     Extend meat by making mixed dishes such as casseroles, stews and stir-fries.

5)     Eat out less often; make brown-bag lunches for work/school.
