Conway Opens Warming Center For Residents

The American Red Cross brought in cots and blankets for those looking to escape the cold.
CONWAY, AR- Folks are taking advantage of a warming center that opened its doors to the public Friday afternoon. It's taking place at the McGee Center off College avenue and will be open around the clock until Monday. Doors close at 11pm.

One Little Rock woman who's stuck in Conway learned about the warming center as she figured out plans to get back home.

"Just until I can get some friends to see if they will drive. But i would not recommend for them to drive, so that's why I'm like ok, paused," said Tywona Conway.

When Tywona Conway arrived, she claimed a cot and grabbed some blankets. She said she's lucky to be indoors when temperatures continue to drop.

"It definitely caught me by surprise," Conway says. "I did not see it coming as far as how bad it would get. But now I've seen how bad it's gotten and I'm devastated."

Conway Police were seen bringing some residents to the warming center to escape the cold conditions.
