Update: 16 Units Destroyed in West LR Apartment Fire

Crews called to Out in the Woods complex on Kanis Rd. Thursday morning.
LITTLE ROCK, AR - City fire department crews are investigating a fire at an apartment complex on the west side of town.

They were called to the scene shortly before 10 a.m. at the Out in the Woods apartments, 9201 Kanis Rd.

Officials say one entire building with 16 apartments has been destroyed and a second building has been partially damaged. It's not yet known how many apartments in the second building were affected. At least 30 people lost their homes in the fire and are receiving assistance from the Red Cross.

No injuries were reported but a number of ambulances on the scene were being used to keep people warm. A city bus was also sent to the scene for the same purpose.

An unknown number of pets were rescued from the flames. 

The cause of the fire isn't yet known.
