Wet & Cool End to July

Wet weather moves into Arkansas tonight and Thursday with rain and unusually cool temperatures for this time of year. Rain will generally be steady and light, but some heavier rains are likely across parts of Western Arkansas. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for parts of West Central Arkansas through Thursday.

Rainfall amounts across West Central Arkansas may exceed 2 inches in some spots with isolated locations up to 3 inches. Otherwise, over an inch is likely in many spots across the Western half of the State and lesser amounts East.

This round of rainfall will likely bring this July into the top 10 wettest Julys on record for the Little Rock area. This is already one of the coolest Julys on record. This month will end the same way with near record cool daytime highs for Thursday. The coolest high temperature on record for the month of July is 71, which was tied earlier this month. That record could be broken!

Warmer temperatures return for the weekend, but staying below normal for this time of year.
