Jonesboro Shooting Suspect Captured

JONESBORO, Ark. - A man wanted in connection to a July 4 shooting is now in custody, according to law enforcement. 

Mario Stafford was taken into custody without incident Wednesday morning according to the Jonesboro Police Department (JPD).

JPD says the shooting happened on the 1900 block of West Nettleton Avenue around 10:20 p.m.

According to the incident report, patrol officers were called to a vehicle accident where a vehicle had left the roadway and struck parked vehicles that were located at an apartment building. 

Authorities learned that the vehicle that had left the roadway had been shot while traveling east bound on Nettleton Avenue. 

Police say Stafford was found at a family member's apartment. 

Stafford was wanted for Terroristic Act with Injury. 

The following agencies were involved in the arrest:  Jonesboro Police Department Street Crimes Unit, 2nd Judicial Drug Task Force, ACC SRT Fugitive Task Force and US Marshals.
