LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Police say two people were injured early Tuesday morning after a car break-in led to a confrontation that ended in gunfire.
According to the Little Rock Police Department, officers responded to a report of a car break-in on Laver Circle just before 4 a.m.
When officers responded to the scene, they found a man with a gunshot wound to the leg, along with his wife who had called the police. She said four people stole a pistol out of her car and shot her husband as they were running away.
The man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment while the officers said they started their investigation.
As they continued to review the scene, the officers got a tip from another nearby homeowner about group of juveniles who walked through the caller’s front yard and were picked up by a white sedan. That vehicle matched the description of one being driven by a woman who had earlier made contact with the officers saying she was looking for her son in the area.
The officers reported that when they again found the sedan, two black men were inside and a juvenile had a abdominal gunshot wound. The juvenile was then taken for treatment. The officers also reported finding a backpack and gun in the sedan that the description of those stolen during the original break-in.
The LRPD Major Crimes Division and the Crime Scene Search Unit arrived at the scene and started their investigation, which is ongoing.
