LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A teenaged boy is recovering from a gunshot wound suffered over the weekend.

The 16-year-old was shot in the leg in a neighborhood on the city’s southwest side early Sunday evening, police say.

A Little Rock Police Department (LRPD) report released on Monday says the scene was just west of Chicot Rd. near Stardust Trail and Winterwood Drive.

Police say the victim showed up at Arkansas Children’s Hospital and then told police where it had happened. He told officers he and his cousin were walking to a friend’s house when a car pulled up, someone inside shot him and the car drove off.

The LRPD reports notes that officers found two shell casings and some blood in the street in the 8000 block of Winterwood Drive.
