UA Track Athlete Arrested, Faces Domestic Battery Charge

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA) – A University of Arkansas track athlete was arrested Sunday night for domestic battery, according to the Fayetteville Police Department. 

Kevin Harris, 22, faces a third-degree domestic battering charge. 

Police officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of W. Junction St. after receiving an assault and battery call, according to the preliminary report.

When officers arrived at the scene, they made contact with the victim who was sitting inside a vehicle. The victim told police Harris had backhanded the side of her head. 

Officers say her ear was swollen and bright red. After gathering more information, officers escorted the victim to her residence where she packed her belongings. 

She told officers this wasn’t the first time an incident like this had occurred. 

Harris was taken into custody at the Washington County Jail. He was released Sunday night on a $1,085 bond. 

Harris’ court date is set for Nov. 26 at 8 a.m.
