SHERWOOD, Ark. – The Sherwood Police Department (SPD) is investigating the city’s first homicide of the year.

Two teens remain in jail for the murder, and a family mourns the loss of a 46-year-old woman after a robbery turned deadly on South Woodview Drive, according to police.

“It’s a quiet neighborhood,” says Hope Young, while standing in her driveway just a few houses down from where the shooting took place. “We don’t have a lot of kids run through here. It’s just a lot of teenagers.”

Young moved here nearly five years ago, and for the first time since then — she’s on edge.

“It’s sad,” she says.

The SPD launched an investigation Monday after they say Regina Jackson was shot and killed inside a home. A police report states a bullet traveled through the home and struck her.

“We actually seen the police and stuff go down there,” adds Young. “I knew something was wrong then.”

Portions of a 911 call about the shooting hint that it might have been a robbery gone wrong. Authorities released audio of the 911 call on Tuesday.

The caller states two men tried to rob him then ran off after gunfire.

Police say witnesses played a crucial role in the case by giving officers a description of the getaway car. Minutes later, a BOLO (Be on the Lookout) alert went out.

“Within — I think it was — 10 or 15 minutes of that information going out, State Police was able to identify the vehicle,” explains SPD Officer Marcus Peters.

After a chase ended in Little Rock, Martieo Nash and Zereak Oliver, both 18, were arrested for Capital Murder and Aggravated Robbery in connection to the shooting.

It was the result of a violent scene that’s changed the mood on Woodview.

“Because you never expect something like that to hit close to home,” Young continues. “And, that right there was too close to home.”

Both teenage suspects remain in the Pulaski County Jail.

The last time the SPD investigated a homicide was in Sept. 2017 after a deadly stabbing.

SHERWOOD, Ark. – New information on a Monday night robbery and murder at a Sherwood home reveals the victim may not have been the intended target.

According to a 911 call from the victim’s son, he was the target of the robbery. It appears his 46-year-old mother was shot and killed in the process.

Due to the emotional nature of the call we are only releasing the small portion in the video below.

Two teens have been arrested in the case. Both were booked into the Pulaski County Jail shortly after 11 p.m. Monday.
