CONWAY, Ark. – Police have released the name of a teenager who died in a shooting incident early Thursday at a local apartment complex.
The Conway Police Department (CPD) says Tyreke Summage, 18, of Conway was the victim in the homicide.
No arrests have been made but the CPD says detectives are questioning some people in connection with the case.
CONWAY, Ark. – A man suffering from a gunshot wound has died after police say he was dropped off at a local hospital.
The Conway Police Department (CPD) reported the incident Thursday morning via social media and said the case is being investigated as a homicide.
Later in the day the CPD said the victim, identified only as an 18-year-old, was shot in an exchange of gunfire at an apartment complex.
Police say it was around 4:30 a.m. Thursday when residents of the Plaza Pointe Apartments on Market Plaza Dr. reported hearing multiple gunshots. Officers called to the scene found no victim at that time. After police were called to a hospital soon after, they connected the shooting victim to the apartment complex incident.
“At first it sounded like a little firecracker, then it dawned on me, okay I know what that sound is and I called 9-1-1,” says Miranda, who lives in the complex.
“We believe involved in this may have known each other and could’ve been targeting each other,” says LaTresha Woodruff with the CPD.
A police K-9 was brought in to search the cars parked near where the shooting happened.
It’s not yet clear whether the exchange of gunshots occurred inside or outside the complex building.
Police say this is the second homicide investigation to take place this year at the complex. Back in September, 1 27-year-old man was shot and killed there.
Anyone with information on the deadly incident Thursday morning is asked to call the Conway Police Department.
