LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Chicot Elementary's building was struck by bullets this morning, the Little Rock School District confirms.
It happened when shots were fired in the neighborhood near the school located on Chicot Rd. on the city's southwest side. No injuries were reported.
One of the buildings on the back side of the campus was hit six times by stray bullets.
The campus was placed on lockdown as police investigated the incident.
When this happened there were no students outside or in that part of the building that was hit.
The principal quickly got word to parents about what happened.
"I was gonna come up here and come get them. I chose not to though because they called me and let me know everything was fine," says Jameka Robinson, parent.
School security says the lockdown only lasted about 15 minutes.
Police do have several persons of interest in custody they say it's still an active investigation.
