Update: Woman Charged in LRPD Officer Hit & Run

Rhakelle Roche Brown, 22, charged with Battery 1st, Fleeing & Theft of Property

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - A woman who turned herself in to police earlier today has now been charged in a hit and run Tuesday evening that injured a Little Rock Police Department (LRPD) officer.

The LRPD says Rhakelle Roche Brown, 22, is charged with Battery 1st, Fleeing and Theft of Property in the incident at the Promenade at Chenal shopping center. Police say Brown struck the officer with her vehicle and drove off while getting away from police investigating a shoplifting incident.

Brown had surrendered at the LRPD's 12th Street Substation early Wednesday afternoon, a few hours after police had released her name and photo as a person of interest.

Charges were filed against Brown after she was interviewed by investigators.

Also on Wednesday, the LRPD identified the injured officer as Officer Scott Dettmer a 22-year veteran of the department who is assigned to the Northwest Patrol Division. He has been released from the hospital and is recovering at home.
