LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Week two of fall camp begins Monday for high school teams.
All eyes are on Pulaski Academy in 5A.
The Bruins are looking for their fifth straight state championship.
P.A. went 14-0 last season but was loaded with seniors.
Many of those seniors were three year starters.
This year the Bruins return three starters on offense and three on defense.
Even though P.A. will feature a lot of new names, Head Coach Kevin Kelley says the goal remains the same…win a state championship.
“This reminds me of the team we had in ’09. We had one returning starter on offense and two on defense. It was a challenge for the coaches. It’s a lot of fun to see who’s going to step up and be the leaders. It’s a lot of fun to see new guys get playing time and add responsibilities. Kind of see where the chemistry of the team goes. It’s been a fun experience and it’s going to be a challenge but it’s going to be a fun challenge,” he says.
“Man, I just love the way we have come together. Like you said, we’ve lost a lot of guys and we’ve come together as a team and seeing that I think has encouraged me and strengthened me to have more confidence in us,” says Hudson Henry, Wide Receiver.
“We always have a chip on our shoulders. We always strive to be the best we can be. With Coach Kelley, we always know that we’re always going to be the best and we’re always going to find a way to win so that chip is more like a drive,” adds John David White, Wide Receiver.
“I think we’re coming together as a great team and we will always work together and the offense is going to do their part and the defense is going to do ours,” says Blake Titus, Safety.
“We’ve lost a lot of players, a lot of key players but you really couldn’t tell in the locker room because everyone is really gelling together and we’re really like a family,” adds Wesley Coleman, Offensive Lineman.
