MALVERN, AR – A trucker has been pronounced dead after a chemical spill shut down a stretch of Interstate 30 for more than 12 hours.

A stretch of the interstate had been shut down between Arkadelphia and Malvern after the truck crashed Wednesday night and spilled hazardous materials. The spill happened around mile marker 86. State police say the truck was carrying propyl acetate, a flammable chemical. The driver, 73-year-old Carter Millard, was pronounced dead on the scene.

The eastbound and westbound lanes reopened Thursday morning.
