$1K Worth of Materials Stolen from Saline Co. Church, Police Investigating

BENTON, AR – Pastor S. David Brewer of Benton Four Square Church says he had prepared his sermon for Sunday’s service but wasn’t prepared for what he saw, the locks to his the church’s shed cut.

And the shed, empty.

“It bothers me, it really does. Because I realize that people don’t have the fear that once we did,” says Pastor Brewer.

Police say air conditioning coils and yard machines were reported stolen as well as the church’s security cameras.

“Apparently they crawled on top of the building and laid down and tore that camera off,” says Brewer.

The total loss was $1,000, enough to financially set the 100 member church back in order to replace. Pastor brewer believes whoever broke into the shed was young and misguided, or a person struggling with drug addicition.

“I hate to see people create an atmosphere where God can’t bless them,” Brewer says.

And even though he wants Benton Police to review surveillance footage on the computers and arrest whoever is responsible, he doesn’t want the criminal to go to jail.

“Maybe this person can get treatment and get their life turned around. Wouldn’t it be a blessing to get their life turned around?,” says Brewer.

Pastor Brewer says the church did recover some of the materials back. They found them hidden in these bushes right near the shed. He says he thinks the thief or thieves were making multiple trips and planned to come back to pick the rest up.

But the church is still out some of the materials that were stolen.
