BRYANT, Ark. – Three juveniles are back inside the Alexander Youth Services Center (AYS) after a nearly three-hour escape.
A Thursday morning news release from the Bryant Police Department (BPD) states that its officers were called to the center around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.
That’s where center officials told them that there were six juveniles being held there who were running outside towards the fence trying to escape.
When officers arrived, they were told that staff from AYS had three of the juveniles back in custody but the other three had gotten away under the fence.
Officers began searching the area and set up a perimeter while waiting on a police K9 unit to arrive to track the escapees.
Just before 1 a.m. Thursday, while officers were still searching the area, the BPD learned that the juveniles had been spotted inside Walmart.
As officers arrived at the store, they were told the three were running out a back door. Within minutes, they were taken into custody without incident.
They were later released back to the custody of AYS.
