LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Arkansas Community Correction is hosting events across the state for the 3rd Annual Reentry Awareness Week, which takes places April 22 through April 27. ACC kicked off the week with a Reentry Rally on Friday.
The theme of the rally was “Be the Difference.” The goal was to help reduce the number of former offenders from returning to prison after they’re released. The rally also gave some of those men and women the chance to hear from people who have had a successful reentry back into society. They were also able to network with potential employers, get help with their resumes and get free health screenings.
ACC Assistant Director of Reentry Carrie Williams said it is important that everyone steps up to help these people who are trying to get back on their feet.
“We need mentors, we need volunteers, we need employers who are willing to step out on faith and give these individuals a second chance,” Williams said.
