Arkansans unite at capitol to generate empathy for those impacted by incarceration

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Arkansans unite to generate empathy for those directly impacted by the criminal justice system.

March 5 is National Day of Empathy.

This morning people gathered at the state capitol to share their stories after being affected by incarceration in the state.

Among those showing support for criminal justice reform actor David Arquette and his wife Christina, a native Arkansan.

“There’s education, there’s mental health support, there’s group counseling… different things we could do to make re-entry more successful for somebody coming out of prison,” says David Arquette.

The couple and others hope the meeting with local lawmakers will generate not just greater empathy but better decisions when it comes to policy making and reducing the prison population.
