LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The family of an Alexander boy who was honored with a police procession last week while being taken to Arkansas Children’s Hospital is sending a thank you message to the community.

The Feb. 28 procession was the dying wish for Louie, who’s in declining health from a medical condition.

Area police officers, firefighters, and EMS crews took part in the procession for Louie, many of them saluting him as he rode by.

“We are encouraged by the tremendous outpouring of community support as we spend our final days with Louie this side of heaven. He continues to face each day with his characteristic faith, contagious laugh and sweet spirit, inspiring us to do the same. We know his days are few, but are trusting in God alone for peace, and we are grateful for each moment we have with our son,” said his mom Kristy Schneider in a statement released Thursday by ACH. “Our hope is that Louie’s story will help each of us love others more selflessly. Thank you for the prayers, support and comfort – they are truly a beautiful gift to our family.”
