LONOKE COUNTY, Ark. – A one-year-old girl is recovering at Arkansas Children’s Hospital after deputies say the child was attacked by a pit bull.
Lonoke County deputies were called to a home on Seaton Road around 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Investigators say the child was bit on her legs and head by a neighbor’s dog.
The sheriff’s office says attacks like these are rare.
“We do get two or three dog bites probably a month. Sometimes a little bit more, sometimes not as much. Generally, they are not that serious,” says Captain David Bufford, Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office.
At this hour the little girl’s condition is unknown but we do know she is expected to survive.
Deputies say the dog has been put down.
