Better Business Bureau warns of Notre Dame scams

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.- The Better Business Bureau has a warning for those who plan to donate to the Notre Dame Cathedral Restoration.

BBB President Janet Robb says this is prime time for thieves to play on your emotions. She suggests checking in with the BBB to research the history of the organization before giving money.

“Be patient and wait a little bit,” says Robb. “This will be a very long-term project. The officials with Notre Dame that are going to work on the rebuilding and restoration will need your money just as much a few months or a year from now as they need it today.”

It’s also important to note, if you donate to a foreign charity, the IRS might not recognize it, so it may not be tax deductible.
